Iron Fist Alexander is one of the most beloved and memorable non-playable characters in Elden Ring, capturing the hearts of players with his cheerful determination to become a great warrior. As a giant living jar, his journey takes him across the dangerous landscapes of the Lands Between in search of combat experience and strength. Finding Alexander in Limgrave and Gael Tunnel
Players first encounter the charismatic warrior jar in Northern Limgrave, just up the cliffside near the Saintsbridge site of grace. Alexander has managed to get himself stuck in a large hole in the ground and requires a few heavy strikes to be freed. After helping him escape, he expresses his gratitude and shares his plan to attend the upcoming combat festival located in Caelid.
Before reaching the festival grounds, Alexander can be found resting inside the Gael Tunnel, a dungeon situated right on the border between Limgrave and Caelid. Following the defeat of Radahn, Alexander can be spotted on the battlefield scraping up the remains of fallen warriors to fill his jar body. He laments his own structural weakness during the intense fight but resolves to harden himself further. Talking to him completely at this battlefield location is required to progress his storyline further into the mid-game regions.
Journeying Through Liurnia and Mt Gelmir
After the festival, the warrior jar travels to Liurnia of the Lakes, where he unfortunately finds himself trapped in another hole just south of the Carian Study Hall. This time, simply hitting him will not work, as he needs a slippery substance like an Oil Pot to slide out safely. Crafting this item and throwing it at him allows you to free him once again with a heavy attack.
Once freed from the Liurnia shores, Alexander migrates to the boiling lava rivers of Mt. Gelmir near Fort Laiedd. He sits directly in the magma behind a Magma Wyrm field boss to bake his clay exterior and increase his durability. Standing nearby on a safe rock allows you to speak with him, prompting him to give you a special jar helmet as a token of friendship.
The Final Duel in Crumbling Farum Azula
The dramatic conclusion of Alexander's questline takes place in the late-game floating ruins of Crumbling Farum Azula. After traversing past the dragon-infested rooftops near the Dragon Temple Lift, you will find him standing proudly on a shattered stone archway. He challenges the player to a final, honorable duel to test his ultimate martial prowess.
Defeating him in this tragic combat brings his journey to an end, and he breaks apart with dignity as a true warrior. His demise rewards you with Alexander's Innards and the Shard of Alexander, which is an exceptionally powerful talisman that vastly increases the attack power of your skills.
